I'll let Jane explain the origins of the quote in her own words...
"To understand this project you need to picture the scene when we invited my son’s in-laws for a visit. This lovely couple met at Cambridge and both are staggeringly bright – I cannot pretend I was not a little unsure of myself. If you have been to the house, you will know that I have bits and pieces everywhere and numerous collections of stuff. Roger sat in an armchair, looked around and said “I think that this house is classically elegant without the tyranny of dusting”. It did make me smile and I knew that one day I would quote him in stitches. "
The sampler is available on 14-count Aida or 28-count linen fabric. The design is worked in counted cross stitch with a few additional stitches. The kit includes the chart, instructions, your choice of fabric, pre-sorted threads, wrapped needle, seed pearls, beading needle, and tiny buttons in mixed colours.
