This lovely project was inspired by 18th Century Samplers and may be stitched on 28-count linen or 14-count Aida as preferred.
It is a nice example of a spot motif sampler, where each motif is it's own size and not necessarily in proportion to the others. The motifs are in cross stitch with only a little back stitch on the sails of the ship. The alphabet is a traditional alphabet, stitched in Algerian Eyes. By traditional we mean it can be missing letters! This is not a mistake. Traditionally alphabets were often stitched based on the Latin alphabet and it is not unusual to be missing a J, U, V and even the W missing. The fresh soft colours of the design on the pale fabrics give the finished piece a 'clean' feel.
Kit includes, your choice of Aida or Linen, pre-sorted threads, wrapped needle, charts in both colour and black and white, and instructions.
Size of design: 21 x 6 inches (53.5 x 15 cm)
