Andrea Thompson, Managing Director

Andrea found cross stitch in 1995 after graduating from university. Going from a student life where something was happening every night to the working world of computer programming left her feeling restless for something to do in the evenings. Cross stitch filled that gap nicely. She joined the Cross Stitch Guild in 2006 at a "Together we Stitch" weekend in Buxton and has never looked back. Hardanger, pulled thread, withdrawn thread, hemstitch, blackwork the world of embroidery was an ever expanding realm of learning new techniques and designs. She couldn't get enough!

When the opportunity arose to get more involved with the running of the CSG she grabbed it. Now settled in Warrington in the North West of England, the CSG HQ moved up there at the beginning of 2017 when Andrea took over managing the Guild fulltime. Going from computer programming to the Cross Stitch Guild may not seem a natural progression but she has always enjoyed making things. Her role in software development meant finding logical but creative solutions to problems and aesthetically pleasing and practical layouts for designs.

As well as cross stitch she enjoys crochet, knitting, ballroom dancing, walking and is a keen cyclist, completing the Coast 2 Coast bike route in 2016. She also keeps buying pretty fabrics with the intention of making something with them, but she thinks they look too nice to use.
