Holbein Stitch
Holbein stitch is the traditional basis of Blackwork. To work Holbein stitch (double running stitch), work a running stitch under and over two threads of evenweave or one block of aida. Then stitch the return journey, filling in the gaps.
Needleweave the wrapped bar and the bar running at right angles for a few stitches then continue with the wrapping. Keep a note of the number of needleweaves to maintain consistency.
