Wrapped Bars
Wrapped bars form the base (along with needleweaving) of the decoration applied to fabric threads after cut threads have been removed in Hardanger or drawn thread embroidery. They may be worked alone or as part of other stitches.
Traditionally, wrapping is done with a finer Perlé cotton than that used for Kloster blocks. Thread is simply wrapped around and around two or more fabric threads. While working, hold the wrapping threads quite firmly to prevent them unravelling. Work each section with the same number of wraps.
