All the designs in this section include a technique called Hardanger which originated from the Hardanger area of Norway.This decorated lacy effect is created by cutting fabric threads and is known to strike terror in the hearts of cross stitchers! Once understood this technique is not difficult and is always effective.
The perfect start to Hardanger embroidery - you can stitch this in an evening! I have included clear, illustrated instructions so that you can tackle the technique of Hardanger embroidery for the first time.

This exquisite little needlefold is created from a band sampler worked in counted cross stitch, Hardanger embroidery and a few additional counted stitches. We have made a little covered magnet which is attached to the needlefold with narrow linen band. If you click on the picture to the left you will see more pictures of the actual stitching.
